Privacy policy

Guysaway is a static website. We do not run analytics, we do not have accounts or logins, there are no forms to fill in, and we set no cookies of our own. The short version is that browsing this site tells us nothing about you. The one exception is if you choose to email us, which is covered below.

What we collect directly

Nothing. There is no analytics script on this site, no tracking pixel, no session, and no way for you to submit information to us through the site. We do not know who you are, what pages you read, or where you came from.

What our host records

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical information needed to serve a page and to protect against attacks. That typically includes your IP address, the page requested, your browser type, and the time of the request. We do not have a dashboard of this tied to individuals, and we do not use it to build any profile of you. Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.

Fonts and third-party requests

There are none on page load. The typefaces are served from our own domain rather than from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes no request to a third party simply to render this page. This was a deliberate choice.

If you email us

The addresses on this site are handled by Cloudflare Email Routing, which receives mail sent to our domain and forwards it on to a mailbox we monitor. Anything you send therefore passes through Cloudflare and is then stored by a third-party email provider, under their privacy policy rather than ours. We do not run our own mail server.

We keep what you send for as long as it is useful and delete it when it is not. We do not add you to anything, because there is nothing to be added to. There is no newsletter, and we will not pass your address to anyone.

Practical advice that applies to any email to any small site: do not send anything sensitive. Email is not a secure channel, and this one ends in an ordinary inbox.

Affiliate links

Today, none. No affiliate program has approved us, so every outbound link on this site is an ordinary link and nothing here earns us anything. The arrangement is described below because this page should be accurate before it is needed rather than after.

When that changes, some links become affiliate links, and if you click one and buy something we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Pages carrying one say so on the page itself, next to the link rather than in a footer.

That is the one place third parties would be involved, so it is worth being precise. Nothing tracks you while you are reading. When you click an affiliate link you leave this site, and at that point the merchant or their affiliate network sets a cookie in your browser so they can credit the sale to us if you buy something. That cookie is set on their domain, not ours, and typically lasts from 24 hours to about 30 days depending on the program.

We cannot set that cookie, cannot read it, and cannot connect it to anything. We would not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or what else you bought. What we would see is an aggregate count of sales in a network dashboard, with no identifying information attached.

We recommend products based on our own trips, hands-on use, or clearly labeled research. A commission does not buy a recommendation. Pages that carry affiliate links say so on the page itself.

Your choices

Because we set no cookies and run no tracking, there is nothing here to opt out of. If you would prefer merchants not set attribution cookies, you can block third-party cookies in your browser or use private browsing. This will not change what you see on this site.

Your rights

Under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA you have rights to access, correct, and delete personal data a business holds about you. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or erase. The exception is email you have sent us yourself, which we do hold. If you want that deleted, or you believe we have something else, write to [email protected] and we will answer honestly.

We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any to sell or share.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this site ever adds analytics, a newsletter, embedded video, or anything else that involves a third party, this page gets updated before that goes live, and the date at the top changes with it.
