Privacy policy
Guysaway is a static website. We do not have accounts or logins, there are no forms to fill in, and nothing here identifies you as a person. Three things are worth knowing about, all covered below: Cloudflare's analytics, which counts page views without cookies and runs by default, Google Analytics, which stays off entirely until you turn it on, and email, if you choose to send us any.
What we collect directly
Nothing that identifies you, and nothing you have to hand over. There is no session, no account, and no way to submit information to us through the site itself. Two analytics tools run here and neither one knows who you are. Cloudflare's counts page views and sets nothing on your machine, so it runs without asking. Google Analytics is the one that can follow a browser between visits, and it is not loaded into the page at all unless you click Allow on the banner. Both are described below.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to see which pages get read and roughly how many people visit. The tracking code itself is not loaded into the page until you click Allow analytics on the banner. If you click Decline, close the banner, or do nothing at all, that code never loads and nothing about your visit reaches Google.
If you do click Allow, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on this domain (typically named _ga and one starting _ga_) to distinguish your browser from others across visits. We see aggregate numbers: page views, rough visit counts, and which pages people land on and leave from. We do not see your name, your email address, or anything that identifies you individually, and we have not enabled Google Signals or any advertising features. Google's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy, since Google is the one processing it.
Your choice is remembered in this browser's local storage, not a cookie. If you accept and change your mind later, the reset link in Your choices below clears your choice, deletes the Google cookies from this browser, and Analytics stays off starting with your next page load.
What our host records
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical information needed to serve a page and to protect against attacks. That typically includes your IP address, the page requested, your browser type, and the time of the request. We do not have a dashboard of this tied to individuals, and we do not use it to build any profile of you. Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.
Cloudflare also runs its own analytics on this site, which loads a small script on every page. It counts page views and records rough things like country, browser, and how fast the page loaded. Unlike Google Analytics above, it is not behind the consent banner, and the reason is specific: it sets no cookies and writes nothing at all to your browser's storage, so there is no stored data on your machine for us to ask permission about. It does not identify you and it does not follow you to any other site. It tells us a page was loaded, not who loaded it.
Fonts and third-party requests
The typefaces are served from our own domain rather than from Google Fonts, so your browser makes no request to a third party simply to render text on this page.
One third-party request does happen on page load, and it is the Cloudflare analytics script described above. Google Analytics is the other one, and it does not load at all unless you accept it. Nothing else on this site calls out to anyone: no embedded video, no social widgets, no advertising network, no tracking pixels.
If you email us
The addresses on this site are handled by Cloudflare Email Routing, which receives mail sent to our domain and forwards it on to a mailbox we monitor. Anything you send therefore passes through Cloudflare and is then stored by a third-party email provider, under their privacy policy rather than ours. We do not run our own mail server.
We keep what you send for as long as it is useful and delete it when it is not. We do not add you to anything, because there is nothing to be added to. There is no newsletter, and we will not pass your address to anyone.
Practical advice that applies to any email to any small site: do not send anything sensitive. Email is not a secure channel, and this one ends in an ordinary inbox.
Affiliate links
Today, none. No affiliate program has approved us, so every outbound link on this site is an ordinary link and nothing here earns us anything.
When that changes, some links become affiliate links, and if you click one and buy something we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Pages carrying one say so on the page itself, next to the link rather than in a footer.
That is the one place third parties would be involved, so it is worth being precise. Nothing tracks you while you are reading. When you click an affiliate link you leave this site, and at that point the merchant or their affiliate network sets a cookie in your browser so they can credit the sale to us if you buy something. That cookie is set on their domain, not ours, and typically lasts from 24 hours to about 30 days depending on the program.
We cannot set that cookie, cannot read it, and cannot connect it to anything. We would not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or what else you bought. What we would see is an aggregate count of sales in a network dashboard, with no identifying information attached.
We recommend products based on our own trips, hands-on use, or clearly labeled research. A commission does not buy a recommendation. Pages that carry affiliate links say so on the page itself.
Your choices
If you already clicked Allow on the analytics banner and want to take that back, click the button below. It clears your saved choice, deletes the Google Analytics cookies from this browser, and the banner will show again next time you load a page. Analytics will not load again unless you click Allow a second time.
If you never accepted, there is nothing to reset, because nothing was ever turned on. If you would also prefer merchants not set attribution cookies when you click an affiliate link, you can block third-party cookies in your browser or use private browsing. This will not change what you see on this site.
Your rights
Under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA you have rights to access, correct, and delete personal data a business holds about you. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or erase. The exception is email you have sent us yourself, which we do hold. If you want that deleted, or you believe we have something else, write to [email protected] and we will answer honestly.
We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any to sell or share.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this site ever adds a newsletter, embedded video, or anything else that involves a third party beyond what is already described above, this page gets updated before that goes live, and the date at the top changes with it.
